Tap at least twice to estimate tempo.

Tap Tempo Calculator

Play your track and tap the beat steadily for several measures. The BPM calculator averages your taps, so longer tap runs usually give a steadier estimate than two quick taps.

If the result jumps around, restart the taps and follow the kick, snare, or strongest pulse in the song. Use the final tempo as a starting point for editing, remixing, or matching a new AI-generated track to existing footage.

FAQ

How do I calculate BPM by tapping?

Start playback, tap the main beat for at least four to eight beats, and read the averaged BPM. Reset and tap again if you drift off the pulse.

What BPM is pop, hip hop, or EDM?

Pop often lands around 90-130 BPM, hip hop commonly sits around 70-100 BPM or double-time equivalents, and EDM can range from 120 BPM house tracks to much faster club styles.

Can I use this tempo for an AI song prompt?

Yes. Add the BPM to your prompt when you want a generated song to match a video cut, dance pace, or reference track.
